Practice questions

NPPE practice questions that come back until you have them

580 exam-style questions, every option explained. Miss one and it returns later in the session and on later days, until you get it right twice in a row.

An NPPE Pro practice question on ethics, answered, with the explanation for each option.

580 questions across all 52 topics

Every NPPE Pro practice question is multiple choice, like the NPPE itself, and is tagged to one of the 52 topics in the 6 domains of the exam blueprint. Each one also carries a difficulty level, which the app uses when it decides what to ask you next.

Every option has its own explanation: why the right answer is right, and why each wrong answer is wrong. You see the reasoning for the option you picked and for the ones you did not, so a miss teaches the rule behind the question rather than just the letter of the answer.

The real NPPE's questions are confidential, so no prep provider can show them to you. NPPE Pro's questions are written to the same blueprint and in the same multiple choice style, with one answer that follows from the codes of ethics, the law or professional practice. The exam format page covers the real exam's rules, from timing to scoring.

Your employer asks you to approve a design you believe does not meet the building code, and says the client will be unhappy with any delay. Under Canadian codes of ethics, what comes first?

How NPPE Pro picks your next question

Each practice set is ranked fresh from your own answers. In order of priority:

  1. 1

    Missed questions first

A question you got wrong, and have not yet answered right twice in a row, is first in line, ahead of anything new.

  2. 2

Then questions you have not seen

New questions come next, so you keep working through the bank instead of circling the same few.

  3. 3

Then the ones you got right once

One correct answer is not mastery. These come back until the second correct answer in a row.

  4. 4

    Mastered questions last, when due

Once you have a question twice in a row, it comes back mainly when its review date comes round. Each correct answer pushes that date further out, and a miss pulls it closer.

  5. 5

Middle difficulty edges out the extremes

Among questions with the same priority, mid-difficulty ones are preferred to the easiest and the hardest.

What happens when you miss one

  1. It comes back in the same session

The question returns a few questions later, up to twice, so the session ends with you getting it right rather than just reading why.

  2. It comes back on later days

A miss brings the question's review date forward, so it returns first in line in your daily review and topic practice until you get it right twice in a row.
The NPPE Pro home screen: days to the exam, readiness against the target, and today's task.
  3. It moves your readiness

Your latest answer to each question feeds the readiness score for its topic, so clearing your misses shows up domain by domain.

Questions people ask

More answers in the NPPE FAQ.

How do the practice questions adapt to me?

NPPE Pro picks your next questions from what you have not seen, what you have missed and what is due for review. A question you miss comes back later in the same session and again on later days until you answer it correctly twice in a row. Questions you have mastered return only when they are due.

How is NPPE Pro different from a question bank?

A question bank gives you questions. NPPE Pro gives you a plan: it counts back from your exam date, teaches each topic in short lessons, brings back the questions you miss until you get them right twice in a row, and shows your readiness by domain so you know when you are ready to book.

How is NPPE Pro different from a free NPPE practice test?

A free practice test tells you roughly where you stand today. NPPE Pro is the preparation that follows: a daily plan to your exam date, lessons on all 52 topics, 580 practice questions that adapt to your misses, and 4 full timed mock exams with a report of your strengths and gaps. You can take the free practice test on competencybasedassessment.ca first.

What is the format of the NPPE?

The NPPE has 110 multiple choice questions, each with four options and one correct answer, to be answered in 2.5 hours. 100 questions are scored and 10 are experimental questions that do not count, and there is no penalty for guessing. It is closed book and remotely proctored, and since June 2026 candidates need a phone or tablet as a second camera.

Are NPPE Pro's practice questions from the real NPPE?

No. The NPPE's questions are confidential, and no prep provider can show them to you. NPPE Pro's questions are written to the same blueprint and in the same multiple choice style, organised by the six domains the exam tests, with an explanation for every option so you learn the rule behind each answer.

Why does a question need to be right twice in a row?

Because one correct answer straight after reading the explanation shows you understood it, not that you will remember it. NPPE Pro treats a question as mastered only after two correct answers in a row. Until then it keeps coming back, first in the same session and then in your daily review and topic practice.

How many NPPE practice questions should I do a day?

A lesson session has 10 questions and takes about 15 minutes, and a daily review adds up to 10 more. That is a sound daily baseline. Consistency matters more than volume: a short session every day, with your misses coming back, does more than a long one once a week. Do more on days you have time.

Which NPPE Pro plans include the practice questions?

Practice and Exam and Full Prep include the practice questions on every topic, along with the daily review and practice by your weakest topics. Exam Only includes the questions in the free topics, plus the 4 mock exams with every answer explained. The free trial opens the free topics so you can try it first.

Can I use NPPE Pro on my phone?

Yes. NPPE Pro runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and your progress follows your account. Lessons and practice sessions are sized for a phone, so a session fits on a commute or a lunch break. There is nothing to install.

Your first session takes fifteen minutes.

Tell NPPE Pro your sitting and it builds the plan. The 14-day trial starts from your first finished lesson, and no card is needed.
