Five things a useful practice exam does
A practice exam is worth two and a half hours of your evening only if it changes what you study next. A single score tells you how the day went. A score broken down by topic, with the reasoning behind every answer, tells you where the next week of study should go. Look for these five things before you spend the time.
The real NPPE has 110 multiple choice questions with four options each, one correct answer and no penalty for guessing, written closed book in 2.5 hours. Ten of those questions are experimental and unscored, and you cannot tell which ones. A practice exam that is much shorter, open book or untimed measures something easier than the exam you will sit.
- Realistic format. Four options and one correct answer, across all six blueprint sections.
- Real timing. A full-length exam on a 2.5-hour clock, so you learn your pace before it counts.
- Explanations for every option. Why the right answer is right and why each wrong one is wrong, not just a letter.
- A report by topic. Your results broken down so you can see which topics cost you marks.
- Misses that come back. The questions you got wrong return until you can answer them reliably.

NPPE Pro's 4 mock exams, and the report after each
NPPE Pro has 4 full-length mock exams with 420 questions between them: two of 100 questions and two of 110. Each runs on a 2.5-hour timer across the six sections of the NPPE blueprint. You can star a question to come back to, and if you have to stop, your answers and remaining time are saved so you can resume.
When you submit, or when the timer runs out, you get a report of your strengths and gaps by topic and an explanation for every question. How to use mock exams in the last weeks
This is the order NPPE Pro's study plan schedules them in. The same idea works whatever you study with.

Take the first mock as a baseline
Sit mock exam 1 once you have been through every topic, in one 2.5-hour block. Expect gaps: the point is to find them, not to score well.

Read the report the same day
Go through every question you got wrong or starred, and read the explanation for each option. Write down the two or three topics that cost you the most marks.

Spend the next week on those topics
Practise them weakest first and clear the questions you missed. Lessons and flashcards fill the gaps the explanations reveal.

Take mock 2 and compare
A second full mock shows whether those gaps closed and whether your pace holds for the whole exam. Review it the same way.

Sit mocks 3 and 4 like the real exam
Same time of day as your sitting, closed book, no interruptions. NPPE Pro's target on these is 65%, its own benchmark and not the NPPE's scaled pass mark.

Are the mock exams like the real NPPE?
They follow its shape. Each of the 4 mock exams is a full-length set of multiple choice questions on a 2.5-hour timer, covering the same six sections as the NPPE blueprint. Afterwards you get a report by topic and an explanation for every answer. The real exam's questions are confidential, so no prep provider can show them to you.
What does the 65% target on the mock exams mean?
65% is the target NPPE Pro sets on its own mock exams: a practice goal to aim for. The NPPE's real pass mark is a scaled score of 65, which is not the same as 65 percent, and the exam is reported only as pass or fail. Treat the target as a practice goal, not a prediction of your result.
How many practice exams should I take before the NPPE?
Take enough full mocks to see a trend rather than a single score. NPPE Pro's plan schedules all 4: mock exams 1 and 2 while you practise and review, then 3 and 4 in the mock exam stage, with each report reviewed before the next. Between them, daily practice on your weakest topics does most of the work.
Can I retake an NPPE Pro mock exam?
Yes. You can retake any of the 4 mock exams after finishing it, and your best score is kept beside the number of attempts. A retake is most useful after you have worked on the topics the first report flagged, because the second report then shows whether those gaps have closed.
Which NPPE Pro plan includes the mock exams?

How do the practice questions adapt to me?

What is the format of the NPPE?
The NPPE has 110 multiple choice questions, each with four options and one correct answer, to be answered in 2.5 hours. 100 questions are scored and 10 are experimental questions that do not count, and there is no penalty for guessing. It is closed book and remotely proctored, and since June 2026 candidates need a phone or tablet as a second camera.
What is the pass mark for the NPPE?
The pass mark is a scaled score of 65, which is not the same as 65 percent. Scores are scaled so that a pass means the same thing at every sitting, and results are reported only as pass or fail. Candidates who fail receive a report showing their performance by content area.
