NPPE prep, counted back from your exam date.

Each day you get one task and a pace check, in short sessions on your phone. Your readiness score shows which of the 6 exam domains still need work. No card needed.

What the books and free questions leave out

The suggested textbooks are the authoritative reference, and free question sets are a fair place to start. What they don't give you is a plan to your date, or a way to see where you stand.

How a day with NPPE Pro works

Tell us your sitting once. After that, the app decides what today is for.

  1. Pick your sitting

NPPE Pro counts back from your exam and splits the weeks into four stages: learn the topics, practise, sit mock exams, then a final week. Each day you get one task and a pace check.
The NPPE Pro home screen: days to the exam, readiness against the target, and today's task.
  2. Learn one topic in minutes

Short cards cover the definition, the rule, a scenario and an exam tip. They are built for a phone and a coffee break, not a textbook and a free weekend.

  3. Answer, then see why

Every option comes with an explanation, the right one and the ones you picked. A question you miss comes back until you get it right twice in a row.
An NPPE Pro practice question on ethics, answered, with the explanation for each option.
  4. See which domains need work

Your readiness score combines how much you have covered with how accurately you answer, domain by domain, so you can see where the next hour goes.

Rehearse the real thing before it counts

Each of the 4 mock exams runs on the NPPE's 2.5-hour timer across the same six sections as the real exam. When you finish, the report breaks your score down by topic and explains every answer.

Aim for NPPE Pro's 65% target on mock exams 3 and 4. It is a practice goal, not the NPPE's pass mark, and when you fall short the report names the topics to fix first.

The six areas the NPPE tests

The exam's blueprint, and how NPPE Pro organizes its 52 topics. Professional practice and law together are more than half the questions.

  • 6 topics

    Professionalism

What it means to hold a licence: the duty to the public, competence, and acting within your expertise.

  • 9 topics

    Ethics

Codes of ethics, conflicts of interest, whistleblowing, and the dilemmas the exam builds questions around.

  • 12 topics

    Professional Practice

Sealing documents, supervision, quality management, risk, the environment and sustainability in practice.

  • 17 topics

    Law for Professional Practice

Contracts, tort and negligence, tendering, insurance, employment, intellectual property and dispute resolution.

  • 4 topics

    Professional Law

The acts and regulations that create the professions and give regulators their powers.

  • 4 topics

    Regulation of Members and Discipline

Licensing, complaints, investigations, discipline hearings and the penalties regulators can impose.

Questions people ask

More answers in the NPPE FAQ.

What is NPPE Pro?

NPPE Pro is an online study platform for the National Professional Practice Examination (NPPE). It counts back from your exam date and plans one short task a day, with a default daily goal of 15 minutes: short lessons, adaptive practice questions, flashcards, 4 timed mock exams and a readiness score for each of the 6 exam domains.

Who is NPPE Pro for?

NPPE Pro is for P.Eng and P.Geo applicants in Canada who have to write the NPPE as part of their licence application, whether it is their first sitting or not. It suits people studying around a full-time job, people writing the exam again after a fail, and internationally trained engineering graduates who are new to Canadian law and ethics.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. You can start NPPE Pro free without a credit card. The 14-day trial starts from your first finished lesson, so signing up early costs you nothing, and it opens a set of free topics, practice questions and a short mock exam preview.

How much does NPPE Pro cost?

NPPE Pro has three paid plans, each one payment for a fixed time with nothing to renew: Practice Questions at $97 CAD for 1 month, Safety Net at $197 CAD for 3 months, and Guided at $297 CAD for 4 months. Prices are before tax, and the pricing page shows what each includes. You can start with the trial before you choose.

How does the Safety Net money-back promise work?

The Safety Net comes with NPPE Safety Net and NPPE Guided, bought from 29 September 2026. Before your sitting, finish every lesson, answer every practice question, review every flashcard and complete all 4 mock exams. Your scores don't matter. Sit the NPPE while your plan is active, or within 30 days of it ending. If your official result is a fail, email it to support@nppepro.ca within 30 days. You get your money back (everything you paid for the plan) and a new 3-month Safety Net period to prepare again, which you can start any time within 12 months. One claim per person. It is a promise about your money, not about your result: no prep plan can promise a pass. Read the Safety Net terms.

How much time do I need each day?

It depends on the weeks to your sitting. A session is a few lesson cards or 10 questions, usually a few minutes, and the plan's default daily goal is 15 minutes, which you can change. With eight weeks to go, most days need a session or two while you learn the topics; start earlier and one a day is often enough. The plan's pace check tells you which.

How is NPPE Pro different from a question bank?

A question bank gives you questions. NPPE Pro gives you a plan: it counts back from your exam date, teaches each topic in short lessons, brings back the questions you miss until you get them right twice in a row, and shows your readiness by domain so you can see which areas still need work.

What is the NPPE?

The National Professional Practice Examination (NPPE) is the law, ethics and professional practice exam that 14 Canadian engineering and geoscience regulators require before they grant a licence such as the P.Eng or P.Geo. It is a 2.5 hours, closed-book, multiple choice exam written online with a remote proctor.

What is the pass mark for the NPPE?

The pass mark is a scaled score of 65, which is not the same as 65 percent. Scores are scaled so that a pass means the same thing at every sitting, and results are reported only as pass or fail. Candidates who fail receive a report showing their performance by content area.

Is NPPE Pro affiliated with my regulator or the NPPE?

No. NPPE Pro is an independent study platform built by CertNova, the team behind CBA Pro and competencybasedassessment.ca. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or approved by any engineering or geoscience regulator, or by the administrators of the NPPE.

Can I use NPPE Pro on my phone?

Yes. NPPE Pro runs in the browser on any phone, tablet or computer, and your progress follows your account. Lessons and practice sessions are sized for a phone, so a session fits on a commute or a lunch break. There is nothing to install.
